There are many types of STDs known to humans. Below are the most common ones –

Chlamydia –

Chlamydia is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis infection. It does not usually cause symptoms, but it can lead to infertility and other complications if it is not treated. Early therapy makes it simple to cure.

How does it Spread:

It is a common infection that can be transmitted via anal, vaginal, or oral sex. It can also be transmitted to a baby during childbirth.

STD Chlamydia Symptoms:

Symptoms may include a change in vaginal discharge and burning discomfort while urinating. Chlamydia can infect the rectum if it is transmitted during anal intercourse or spreads from another part of the body. This can result in:

How does it spread?

If a person touches a herpes-infected body part and then touches another part of their body, herpes can spread to that area.

How does it spread:

  • sexual contact
  • utilizing non-sterile injection equipment
  • puncturing the skin using a sharp tool where the virus is present
  • From Mother to Child – During Pregnancy

A doctor, on the other hand, may advice on how to avoid this. People who are at high risk of acquiring hepatitis B should consult their doctor about a vaccination, which may provide some protection.

Syphilis cases have been on the rise in recent years, particularly among homosexual and bisexual males. Every year, around 80,000 people are diagnosed with syphilis.

  • Hair thinning
  • Headaches
  • Loss of Weight
  • Muscular pain
  • Tiredness
  • Fever

Gonorrhea:

Gonorrhea is a common bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. How does it spread?

Gonorrhea transmission happens through oral, vaginal, or anal intercourse. Pink eye can be caused by gonorrhea if a person contacts an infected region of their body and subsequently touches their eye.

Men:

  • Penile discharge

  • Can progress to epididymitis

Women:

  • Anal discharge

HPV is a group of more than 200 related viruses. Low risk HPV generally goes away on its own and does not lead to any issues. High Risk HPVs can lead to complications like genital warts, cervical changes and cervical cancer.

Women:

Clusters of tiny warts outside and inside of the vagina, on the cervix or around the anus

HIV:

HIV is an abbreviation for human immunodeficiency virus. It attacks and kills immune system cells, making it difficult to fight against other infections. HIV can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome if it has severely damaged your immune system (AIDS).
